Bank of Ghana implementing new rules to boost stock exchange listing

The Bank of Ghana is changing its rules to encourage banks to list on the Ghana Stock Exchange, JoyBusiness reported Oct. 4.

The central bank announced the move at the IPO launch of Energy Commercial Bank Ghana Ltd., increasing the number of bourse-listed banks to nine.

A speech made on behalf of the central bank governor, Ernest Addison, read: "As regulators, we will continue to assist by revising our processes and do away with unnecessary hindrances when it comes to listing to help grow and support the vision of having sound and reputable capital market where institutions can source for funding."
