Asics Q2 profit climbs 92.5% YOY

Asics Corp. said its normalized net income for the second quarter amounted to ¥23.97 per share, a gain of 81.7% from ¥13.19 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥4.81 billion, a gain of 92.5% from ¥2.50 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 4.6% from 3.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 35.2% year over year to ¥104.21 billion from ¥77.09 billion, and total operating expenses increased 37.0% from the prior-year period to ¥98.33 billion from ¥71.76 billion.

Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to ¥6.01 billion, or ¥29.91 per share, from ¥1.34 billion, or ¥7.06 per share.

As of Aug. 7, US$1 was equivalent to ¥124.28.
