Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said Jesus Soto Jr., senior vice president of gas operations, resigned from the company June 3.

The PG&E Corp. utility named Melvin Christopher vice president of gas operations and a principal executive officer, effective June 3. Christopher was recently the utility's vice president of gas transmission and distribution operations, according to a June 4 SEC filing.

Pacific Gas and Electric and its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Jan. 29. A judge presiding over the joint bankruptcy proceeding granted the companies an additional four months to file a plan of reorganization.
