Report: Kerimov firm offers to acquire Onexim's stake in RUSAL

A business owned by Russian entrepreneur Said Kerimov hasadvanced an offer to purchase Onexim Group's 17% interest inaluminum producer United Co.RUSAL Plc, various news agencies reported.

The stake was valued at just below US$900 million and theoffer was sent last week, but it did not receive any response, Reuters wroteJuly 18, citing Interfax news agency.

Onexim declined to comment.

Onexim has offered the stake to several potential buyers,including current shareholders Sual Partners and , but they are notprepared to spend much, Vedomosti reportedJuly 19, citing sources.

Earlier in the month, Onexim CEO Dmitry Razumov media reports suggesting theholding company was preparing to launch a fire sale of its portfolio of Russianassets due to pressure from the Kremlin.

The company later soldits 20% stake, valued at US$2 billion, in potash producer .
