NV Energy seeks proposals for renewable, energy storage projects

NV Energy Inc. on Oct. 16 issued a request for proposals for the potential addition of 350 MW or more of renewable energy and battery storage projects.

The Berkshire Hathaway Inc. subsidiary is looking for solar, geothermal, wind, biomass and biogas technology projects within the state of Nevada, with a commercial operation date on or before Dec. 31, 2023. The company will also consider battery energy storage systems that are integrated with the proposed renewable energy resource.

The projects must be approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.

"Over the last nine years, NV Energy has more than tripled its in-state renewable energy production," Dave Ulozas, NV Energy senior vice-president for renewable energy and origination, said in a news release. "Our successful efforts to secure 1,001-megawatts of renewable energy earlier this year shows we are committed to obtaining renewable projects that make sense for our customers."

Details on the request can be found in the company's website. All bids must be submitted by Dec. 10.
