U.K.-based Pioneer Underwriters has appointed Nick Greggains as CEO of the company's U.S. operations.

Greggains will take up the new role on March 25 and will be based in New York. He was Catlin LLC's chief underwriting officer for the U.S. before the company's merger with XL Group Ltd. He then became director of underwriting of XL Catlin Americas and CEO of XL Catlin Canada.

Gene Hinman, Pioneer's current U.S. CEO, will become president of Pioneer U.S. until his retirement from the company at the end of the year.

Pioneer Underwriters, the underwriting group within Minova Insurance Holdings Ltd., operates as Pioneer Syndicate 1980.
