Walmart supplier recalls sausages over foreign-matter contamination

Packaged food and meat producer Johnsonville LLC is recalling around 95,393 pounds of ready-to-eat jalapeño cheddar smoked sausages due to the possible presence of foreign matter, specifically hard green plastic, the U.S. Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service said May 31.

The recall involves 14-ounce packs of Johnsonville Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage with a use-by date of June 9, 2019. The products were produced and packaged between March 12 and March 13, and bear the establishment number EST. 34224.

The products were distributed to retailers, including Walmart Inc., throughout the U.S. and overseas.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consuming the products.
