Tesla Inc. has further increased the price of the dual-motor option of its Model 3 car by 20% to $6,000, Electrek reported Sept. 10.
Earlier this year, Tesla introduced the dual-motor option on the Model 3 at $5,000, similar to the option on Model S, which was also $5,000, according to the report.
According to Tesla's website, the dual motor version of the Model 3 starts at $55,000, with the performance version priced at $64,000. Electrek said the price for the performance version remains unchanged.
The report said the price change is the third time in a few months.
In a statement, the California-based electric car company said it occasionally adjusts pricing and available options "to best reflect the value of our products and to streamline our manufacturing operations."
The report comes as Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla is dropping obsidian black and metallic silver colors from production to simplify manufacturing. Musk said the two color options will still be available as special request, but at a higher price.
