Volkswagen AG subsidiary Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said its global sales jumped 16.2% in April to 46,300 units, driven by 46.3% growth in its German home market and the resumption of deferred deliveries.
In the four months to April, the company's deliveries reached 161,000 vehicles. That number is down 0.4% from the year-ago period, but is expected to continue improving in May.
Germany sales climbed to 14,900 in April, which helped bolster sales in Western Europe by 22% to 33,600 vehicles.
Sales in Eastern Europe, South America, the Asia-Pacific region and Africa expanded as well during the month by 12.8%, 24.3%, 8.7% and 6.5%, respectively.
Aside from strong demand across multiple regions, April sales were boosted by the resumption of temporarily deferred deliveries of T6 vans. T-model range deliveries were up 29.8% to 22,100 vehicles, or nearly half the April global sales total.
