J.B. Hunt Transport Services Q2 profit falls YOY

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its normalized net income for the second quarter amounted to 88 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 91 cents per share.

EPS fell 5.3% year over year from 93 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $97.6 million, a decline of 7.8% from $105.9 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 5.7% from 6.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 6.9% year over year to $1.73 billion from $1.62 billion, and total operating expenses grew 8.6% year over year to $1.56 billion from $1.44 billion.

Reported net income declined 6.8% on an annual basis to $97.5 million, or 88 cents per share, from $104.7 million, or 92 cents per share.
