Lundin Energy AB changed its name to Orrön Energy AB (publ), rebranding the company as a pure-play renewables business after divesting its oil and gas business to Aker BP ASA.
Orrön Energy is trading under Lundin Energy's LUNE ticker until the registration of the name change, which was expected to occur July 1. The company, which serves the Nordics, will then trade under the new ticker ORRON.
"We see many opportunities in the energy transition, and Orrön Energy is uniquely positioned to take advantage of these with a strong portfolio of cash-generating renewables assets, no debt and with board, management and the major shareholders fully aligned to grow the business," Orrön Energy CEO Daniel Fitzgerald said in a news release.
Lundin Energy sold its oil and gas business, Lundin Energy Norway AS, to Aker BP in December 2021. The deal was completed July 1. The entity was renamed ABP Norway AS and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Aker BP.
