Greater China M&A By the Numbers: Q1 2025

In YTD 2025, Greater China had a total of 300 M&A deals worth US$27bn. The total volume showed an overall 5.3% growth from YTD 2024. Similarly, the aggregate transaction value in YTD 2025 showed an increase of 71.7% from YTD 2024 which was largely contributed by domestic & inbound deals with an increase of 83.9% in value. This reflected a strong start for Greater China as government stimulus measures like interest rate cuts and subsidies to encourage consumer spending helped stabilize the economy and restore investor confidence. In YTD 2025, the two strongest sectors within the domestic & inbound realm were utilities and communication services displaying massive growths at 8827.9% and 1476%, respectively. For the outbound realm, the strongest were healthcare, industrials, and information technology at 487.5%, 431.9%, and 350.5%, respectively.
