Australia Q1 2026 Capital Markets Update

In Q1 2026, Australia recorded 210 M&A transactions with a total value of US$10.0 billion. The number of deals declined by 15.0% compared with Q1 2025, and the aggregate transaction value contracted sharply by 40.8%.

YTD 2026 the inbound market experienced a 75.3% decline in transaction value, the domestic and outbound markets reported solid growth of 63.8% and 161.8%, respectively. Notably, the Healthcare sector in the inbound market, Communication Services in the domestic market, and Financials in the outbound market all recorded strong growth.
