With Japan’s continuously evolving corporate governance landscape, total M&A deal value increased compared to previous periods. In YTD 2025, Industrials displayed the highest growth at 1,471%, followed by Information Technology at 752%, within the domestic and inbound sector. As for the outbound sector, Communication Services gained by 9,728% in deal value, followed by Industrials with an increase of 2,255%. Although the outbound M&A volume decreased slightly, from 171 in YTD 2024 to 169 in YTD 2025, the total deal value of Japan outbound M&A greatly increased by 87% to USD 51.5 billion. On the other hand, although domestic and inbound M&A had a 28% decrease in transaction volume, deal value increased by 137%.
