BLOG — June 30, 2025
By Seth Shafer and Kirt Raynes
S&P Global Market Intelligence Kagan has tracked social media followers across Meta Platforms Inc.'s Facebook and Instagram, TikTok Inc.'s TikTok, X (formerly Twitter) and Alphabet Inc.'s YouTube for over 300 professional sports teams across 13 major leagues for the month of May.

Social media follower data presented here for May 2025 was collected on a team-by-team basis for the team's primary official social media account on each platform. Followers for accounts operated by leagues or individual athletes were not tracked or included. Some social media platforms round off follower counts, and data presented for YouTube reflects channel subscribers to the team's official YouTube account. Follower counts are for total followers and not unique followers as a single user may follow multiple team accounts across multiple platforms.
Economics of Streaming Media is a regular feature from S&P Global Market Intelligence Kagan.
