Outlook 2026: Load, weather may boost Texas summer power demand over 2025 levels

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is likely to add net generation of almost 28 gigawatts in 2026, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data, up from 17.7 GW added in 2025 and almost double the addition of 2024.
