Indexes tracking real estate investment trust stocks outperformed the broader stock market indexes during the first week of November.
The Dow Jones Equity All REIT closed the recent week up 1.40%, while the MSCI US REIT (RMZ) index rose 1.50%. On the other hand, the broader stock market indexes closed the recent week in the red, with the S&P 500 down 1.63% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.21%.
All of the Dow Jones US real estate property sector indexes logged increases this past week. The healthcare and hotel REIT indexes recorded the largest increases, up 4.20% and 4.00%, respectively, followed by the apartment and industrial REIT indexes with increases of 1.91% and 1.62%, respectively.
Hotel REIT DiamondRock Hospitality Co. recorded the largest share-price increase of all US REITs with at least $200 million in market capitalization, up 14.58%. Advertising REIT OUTFRONT Media Inc. and communications REIT Uniti Group Inc. ranked second and third with share-price increases of 13.96% and 12.67%, respectively.
The two cold-storage-focused REITs, Lineage Inc. and Americold Realty Trust Inc., recorded the largest share-price declines of the group, down 12.13% and 8.84%, respectively.
