Ørsted A/S will invest in a new technology that would collect better birdlife data at offshore wind farms.
The company will partner with venture capital firms Nysnø Climate Investments, Wiski Capital, Norrsken Foundation and Antler to support Spoor AI, a startup developer of a bird-monitoring tool that will support Ørsted's goal of delivering a net-positive biodiversity impact for all new projects by 2030.
Data collected by Spoor will help Ørsted refine wind farm project design to minimize potential negative impacts on biodiversity.
Ørsted said in a June 8 news release that it is the first offshore wind developer to invest in Spoor.
