Japanese trading and investment group Mitsui & Co. Ltd. completed the acquisition of a 27.5% interest in Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. in exchange for a €575 million investment, the Irish wind and solar developer announced April 7.
The deal, which was announced in late March, will see Mitsui join Aker Horizons ASA as a long-term strategic investor in Mainstream, according to a news release. Aker Horizons owns a 54.4% stake in Mainstream, with the remaining 18.1% interest held by Mainstream founder Eddie O'Connor and Irish retail investors.
The transaction valued Mainstream at €2.1 billion on a 100% basis, the release said.
