EDP Renováveis inks 156-MW deal with Meta for output of planned Texas solar farm

EDP Renováveis SA, through its EDP Renewables North America LLC subsidiary, executed a 156-MW power purchase agreement with Facebook operator Meta Platforms Inc. for output from a planned solar facility in Milam County, Texas.

EDP Renewables North America will construct, own and operate the 240-MW Cattlemen Solar Park, which has a planned capital investment of approximately $280 million. The project is expected to be operational in 2023, EDP Renováveis said April 13.

The power purchase agreement with Meta is the second between the two companies. EDP Renewables North America previously entered a 139-MW contract for output from the 200-MW Headwaters II Wind Farm in Randolph County, Ind. They are also partnering on the development of a 200-MW solar facility in Arizona, the output of which will supply a Meta data center in that state.

EDP Renováveis is a subsidiary of EDP - Energias de Portugal SA.
