Marriott International Inc. is looking to open 100 hotel properties in the Asia-Pacific region in 2021.
The hotelier is expecting to open the JW Marriott Shanghai Fengxian in Shanghai in spring, alongside other hotel openings in China, such as the W Changsha, W Xiamen, St. Regis Qingdao, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve Jiuzhaigou, Sheraton Mianyang and The Westin Nanjing Resort & Spa.
Marriott will also debut the W Hotels brand in Osaka, Japan, and open six additional Fairfield by Marriott hotels throughout 2021 in Japan. More than 30 Fairfield by Marriott hotels are expected to operate in the country by the end of 2023.
The Luxury Collection is also set to land in Australia with the opening of The Tasman in Hobart, while the W Melbourne hotel and the Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands are expected to open in spring and in early 2021, respectively.
A hotel under the Ritz-Carlton brand will open in the Maldives in early summer, and the company's Westin wellness brand is also expected to debut in India. A JW Marriott-branded hotel will also operate in South Korea's Jeju Island with the opening of the JW Marriott Jeju in late 2021.
