Katherine (McCaffrey) Nelson, PhD is a Senior Research Analyst with the S&P Global Energy Energy Research team, creating the Market Intelligence Power Forecast for CapIQ Pro. She is the forecast product lead, contributing market knowledge and data analytics skills to automating, producing and visualizing the forecast product. Dr. Nelson brings to the team 5 years as a research scientist in wind energy meteorology at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of St Thomas (MN) and a PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Tanya Peevey is an analyst with the Power Forecast team at S&P Global Energy creating content for the Cap IQ Pro client facing website, specifically the 20-year power forecast of next-day energy prices and articles with insights on energy markets. Prior to joining S&P Global, Tanya worked 8-years at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a research analyst, evaluating the performance of global and regional weather forecasts for the National Centers for Environmental Prediction and the Federal Aviation Administration. Tanya holds a BS in Physics from the University of Texas-Dallas and a Masters and PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Zack Hale is a senior reporter covering federal energy policy for S&P Global Energy. He joined the news organization in 2018.
Zack primarily covers US wholesale power markets and electric transmission policy, with a special focus on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the regional grid operators the agency oversees. He also reports on power-sector rules and regulations issued by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency, as well as related legislative action in Congress.
Zack previously covered energy project development for The Daily News in Longview, Wash., a Pulitzer-Prize winning local newspaper serving Washington state’s Lower Columbia Basin region. He got his start in journalism as a web producer for POLITICO after serving as editor-in-chief of his student newspaper.
Zack holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Western Washington University and a master’s degree in energy policy and climate from Johns Hopkins University.

David Harley is an Associate Director of Product Management with S&P Global Market Intelligence. He has been with the company since 2018 and currently leads the Energy & Commodities product strategy for the Capital IQ Pro platform. David specializes in scaled agile product delivery, cross-functional alignment, go-to-market execution, and user-centric product design for the Energy product offering. He manages a team of product managers and drives the strategic roadmap for the Commodities portfolio, focusing on growth, customer value, and operational efficiency.
Prior to his role at S&P Global Market Intelligence, David held product leadership positions at Engine and Avant, where he led agile transformations, launched high-impact products, and scaled growth-focused development teams.
David earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing, with a minor in Business Information Systems, from Ohio University.
