Executive Director, Global Gas, Geopolitics & Finance
Laurent Ruseckas leads coverage of geopolitics, geoeconomics and finance within the Global Gas research and analysis team. He also leads global gas and LNG market coverage for S&P Energy’s real-time analysis product First Take.
Ruseckas has worked for over 30 years advising companies, financial institutions and governments on energy strategy and investment, with a focus on the natural gas industry and the role of natural gas in the energy transition.
From 2022 to 2024 he led global gas research and European power and energy transitioncoverage within the company’s Energy Capital Insights team. Previously Ruseckas managed over 30 consulting engagements related to natural gas infrastructure development or gas-related transactions in Europe and Eurasia.
Earlier in his career, Ruseckas managed the Europe and Eurasia practice at a leading political risk advisory firm, and began his career covering the Caspian Sea region with Cambridge Energy Research Associates in the early 1990s. A Russian speaker, Ruseckas holds a B.A. with honors in Russian and Soviet Studies from Harvard College (Cambridge, USA) and passed comprehensive examinations in the Ph.D. program in Political Science at ColumbiaUniversity (New York, USA). He is based in London
