William Blair & Co. LLC is expanding biopharmaceuticals coverage in its equity research and institutional sales and trading teams.

In line with the increased focus, the company reorganized its healthcare equity research coverage into two groups: biopharmaceuticals and healthcare technology. It named Tim Lugo and Katherine Xu co-group heads of the biopharmaceuticals equity research team and will promote Andy Hsieh, Matt Phipps and Raju Prasad to senior research analysts. In addition, Amanda Murphy will expand her existing biopharmaceuticals and diagnostic services equity research coverage to include companies focused on gene sequencing and gene editing technologies.

In institutional sales and trading, William Blair promoted John Mullaly to global healthcare coverage specialist.
