Lima stock exchange develops 1st green bond in Peru

Bolsa de Valores de Lima SAA, or BVL, has developed the first green bond market in Peru in partnership with the U.K., Gestión reported.

The stock exchange will present a guide for investing in the green bonds in March. Although investors can currently issue the bonds, the guide will have the basic principles which should be met by the bond issuers.

"The advantage of green bonds is that many investors ask for green investments," BVL's President Marco Antonio Zaldívar said. "There arose the need to identify which companies comply with the instruments of being a green bond."

Anwar Choudhury, the British Ambassador to Peru, said that the U.K.'s investments in the country are close to $10.0 billion and is the South American country's second-largest investor.
