Universal Studios Japan plans to open a Nintendo-themed area of the park by 2020, the company announced Dec. 12.
Super Nintendo World is being developed by NBCUniversal Media LLC-owned Universal Parks & Resorts in cooperation with the Japanese gaming giant. It will include rides, interactive areas, restaurants and shops featuring Nintendo games and characters.
The addition to the Osaka theme park is expected to cost more than ¥50 billion, and is scheduled to open in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Nintendo recently announced that it would collaborate on themed attractions for the Japan and Hollywood locations of Universal Studios as well as for Universal Orlando Resort.
