OMV completes sale of Samsun power plant

Vienna-based integrated oil and gas company OMV AG said Sept. 6 that it has closed the sale of OMV Samsun Elektrik Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi to YAPISAN ELEKTRIK URETIM A.S., a subsidiary of Bilgin Enerji Yatirim Holding A.S. for an undisclosed amount. The deal was signed May 30.

Samsun Elektrik Üretim A.S. runs the 890-MW gas-fired cycle Samsun power plant located in the Terme borough, Samsun province in Turkey.

"The divestment of the Samsun power plant is in line with OMV's strategy 2025 to further optimize its portfolio. It is the final step in the strategic target to reduce the exposure of the non-integrated power business" Manfred Leitner, OMV executive board member for downstream operations, said in a May 30 news release.

Based in Turkey, Bilgin Enerji Yatirim Holding A.S. researches, develops, builds and operates power plants in the country.
