Facebook Inc. is working to launch a camera-equipped device that connects to televisions, cheddar.com reported Oct. 16, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

The device, which allows video chat and media content viewing, is expected to hit shelves in spring 2019.

The project, internally called "Ripley," uses the same core technology as the company's recently unveiled Portal and Portal+ video chat devices.
