Smith & Nephew PLC closed its acquisition of Munich-based Brainlab AG's orthopedic joint reconstruction business.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The Brainlab orthopaedic joint reconstruction business provides digital workflow tools that enable surgeons to plan and evaluate various stages of operations.
The transaction is line with U.K.-based Smith & Nephew's strategy to invest in technologies that will boost its multi-asset digital surgery and robotic ecosystem. The company plans to integrate Brainlab technology into NAVIO 7.0, its surgical robotics system.
Smith & Nephew said it will work with Brainlab to develop additional applications to enhance its digital surgery products.
