Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Holdings Inc. will raise the price of its bottled beverages by up to 10% as early as April 2019 in response to increasing transportation costs, the Nikkei Asian Review reported, citing sources.
Prices of fruit-flavored and tea drinks in 1.5-liter and 2-liter plastic bottles will increase by 6% to 10%, according to the Dec. 20 report. Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan plans to have consumers shoulder the price hike and has not decided if it would raise prices on 500-milliliter bottled beverages.
The move would mark the company's first price hike since 1992 not related to Japan's consumption tax, the Nikkei reported.
