E.ON issues €2.25B in bonds to refinance debt, fund sustainable projects

E.ON SE issued three bonds for combined proceeds of €2.25 billion to refinance all its securities that are maturing in 2020.

The first offering is a green bond worth €1 billion that will mature in September 2027 and has a coupon of 0.375%, according to a Jan. 9 press release.

The second issuance is a €500 million bond with a 0.75% interest rate, maturing in December 2030, and the third is a €750 million bond with no interest rate, maturing in December 2023.

Other than refinancing the debt that matures in 2020, E.ON intends to use the proceeds to fund sustainable infrastructure and energy efficiency projects.

BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan and Santander served as active book runners on the issuance.
