Report: Amazon veteran joins Bezos' senior team

Peter DeSantis, an Amazon.com Inc. veteran, now has a place within CEO Jeff Bezos' elite team of top executives, CNBC reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

DeSantis, vice president of Amazon Web Services Inc.'s global infrastructure and customer support, was reportedly promoted earlier this year to Bezos' senior team, or S-team, which comprises the company's 18 most senior leaders. Other members of the team include AWS CEO Andy Jassy and Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky. The group meets regularly to make key business decisions, the report said.

A 21-year company veteran, DeSantis was one of the first employees of Amazon's cloud business. He played a critical role in building AWS from its early days in 2006.
