SSE agrees to provide all future financing for Scottish wind farm

SSE Renewables said May 30 that it agreed to provide all future financing for the Viking Energy wind farm in Scotland.

To date, the wind farm, with a planned capacity of up to 457 MW, has been equally funded by the SSE PLC subsidiary and its project partner Viking Energy Shetland. According to the project's website, the Viking wind farm is expected to be operational by 2024.

The Viking project is entering the final stages of preparing for the government's next "Contract for Difference" auction. The project is expected to help Scotland meet decarbonization targets and provide security of supply for Shetland through a new transmission link.
