The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved MG Industries GmbH's request to change the name of Linde Energy Services Inc. to Messer Industries GmbH.
The company is completing the acquisition of Linde North America Inc. from German gas giant Linde AG. The commission approved the transaction Sept. 14.
Linde North America is the parent company of Linde Energy Services, which was created to serve as a load-serving entity that would allow Linde's direct participation in wholesale energy markets across the U.S.
The divestment is part of a broader deal in which Linde AG is merging with U.S. gas company Praxair PLC for $87 billion. The merger would create Linde PLC, estimated to have a combined market value of more than $70 billion and pro forma revenues of about $29 billion.
Messer Industries is a newly created joint-venture company that will be owned by Messer Group GmbH and investment funds or vehicles including CVC Capital Partners Fund VII. (FERC docket EC18-132)
