Ørsted to bid in Dutch offshore wind farm tender

Ørsted A/S plans to submit a bid in the Dutch tender for the Holland Coast South 3 & 4 offshore wind farm.

As part of its bid, the company is working to establish green hydrogen projects to be linked to its Dutch offshore wind farms, according to a March 14 news release.

The Ørsted board already approved the final investment decision for the offshore wind project. "The funding is secured and guaranteed on our balance sheet, so if the Dutch government selects Ørsted, they can be certain that the wind farm will be built," Ørsted Offshore CEO Martin Neubert said.

A consortium of Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Van Oord NV and Eneco Groep NV is also participating in the tender for the project, as well as Vattenfall AB.

In 2016, Ørsted won the Dutch tender for the 752-MW Borssele 1 & 2 project. The offshore wind farm is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021.
