Facebook buys German software startup fayteq

Facebook Inc. acquired German software startup fayteq, deutsche-startups.de reported Aug. 11.

Fayteq developed a software plugin that can add, manipulate or remove objects from videos. Facebook could use the technology as part of its push into video and augmented reality, Business Insider reported the same day.

Fayteq said on its website that its products and services are "are not available for purchase anymore."

The deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, follows Facebook's recent acquisitions of content rights management startup Source3 Inc. and artificial intelligence assistant startup Ozlo Inc.
