Ceylinco Insurance PLC appointed Ajith Gunawardena executive chairman and CEO following the retirement of Godwin Perera from the board and as chairman, Daily FT reported.

Additionally, Vasantha Kumar is taking on the role of independent nonexecutive director at Ceylinco Insurance, and R. Renganathan has been named as the nonexecutive deputy chairman position.

Previously, Gunawardena served as Ceylinco Insurance's managing director and CEO, and Kumar was People's Bank's CEO and general manager. Renganathan serves as chairman of Ceylinco Life.

The appointments of Gunawardena and Kumar are effective June 1.
