Vestas inks logistics partnership with Maersk to strengthen supply chain

Vestas Wind Systems A/S entered into a strategic partnership with A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S for containerized transport as part of its efforts to mitigate negative impacts from supply chain challenges.

The partnership grants Vestas direct access to container capacity at a fixed price. "By partnering with Maersk, we can further accelerate the deployment of wind energy and protect profitability while working together on developing solutions that can make our supply chain more sustainable," Vestas COO Tommy Rahbek Nielsen said in a Nov. 10 statement.

The partnership includes door-to-door transport from suppliers to Vestas' factories and service warehouses as well as containerized site parts and transport equipment. It also includes all airfreight shipments.

The partnership is effective Jan. 1, 2022. DSV will continue to manage non-containerized transport and outbound transport for Vestas, the company said.
