Pietro Labriola |
Telecom Italia SpA appointed Pietro Labriola as its new CEO.
Labriola will concurrently retain his existing role as the Italian telco's general manager, according to a Jan. 21 news release. He will also qualify as a nonindependent executive director.
Following the additional appointment, Labriola will resign as a director and CEO of Telecom Italia's Brazilian unit TIM SA. The latter said it expects to name its new CEO in the coming days, in line with a succession process.
The CEO post at Telecom Italia had been vacant since late November 2021 after Luigi Gubitosi stepped down to help speed up the evaluation of KKR & Co. Inc.'s nonbinding offer for the telco. Telecom Italia Chairman Salvatore Rossi will remain in charge of discussions related to KKR's offer.
Labriola has reportedly proposed a revamp of Telecom Italia as an alternative to KKR's takeover bid.
