Southwestern Energy CFO dies

Southwestern Energy Co. Executive Vice President and CFO Julian Bott died unexpectedly on Jan. 3, according to the company.

"We have lost a well-respected business leader, advisor and mentor who will be remembered as a compelling and insightful thinker with a steady hand and warm demeanor that made him immensely successful," Southwestern Energy President and CEO Bill Way said in a Jan. 4 press release. "His presence will be deeply missed within the SWN family and across the broader industry."

Southwestern Energy Treasurer and Vice President Michael Hancock will serve as interim CFO. Hancock joined the company in 2010 and has held leadership positions in accounting, finance, investor relations, and financial planning and analysis, the company said.

Bott died following a "sudden non-COVID-related medical condition," according to the company.
