RWE AG signed an agreement with Linde AG to deliver permit planning for its planned 200-MW electrolyzer plant in Lingen, Germany.
The project, comprising two 100-MW proton exchange membrane electrolyzers, will be powered by offshore wind power from the North Sea to produce green hydrogen, the company said Dec. 20.
RWE expects the first 100-MW electrolyzer to be operational in 2024 and the second 100-MW facility by early 2025, subject to securing public funding in due time, according to a news release.
The project is part of RWE's plan to install a 300-MW electrolyzer at the Lingen site by 2026. The company aims to create electrolyzer capacity of at least 2 GW to generate green hydrogen by 2030.
