New mine extends First Quantum's Ravensthorpe nickel ops by at least 20 years

The Shoemaker-Levy mine has opened at First Quantum Minerals Ltd.'s Ravensthorpe nickel operation in Western Australia, according to a Nov. 18 government news release.

Shoemaker-Levy is expected to extend Ravensthorpe's lifespan by at least 20 years.

"This new mine will add decades to the life of this rejuvenated operation, securing jobs and strengthening the McGowan Government's vision for WA's future battery industry strategy," Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston said.
