Itafos Inc. said Nov. 18 that it returned to full production capacity at the Conda phosphate mine in Idaho after sulfuric acid supply from Rio Tinto Group's Kennecott operation in Utah resumed.
In September, Rio Tinto declared force majeure on copper cathode and acid shipments from Kennecott as the company closed the smelter after it released molten copper. The move affected operations at Conda, which purchases about 60% of sulfuric acid supply from Rio Tinto's Kennecott Utah Copper Corp.
Itafos earlier outlined plans to restart the sulfuric acid plant at the Arraias facility in Brazil.
