Omaha, Neb.-based First National Bank of Omaha, a unit of First National of Nebraska Inc., inked a definitive merger agreement with Laramie, Wyo.-based Western States Bank, a subsidiary of Western States Bancorp.
The deal is expected to close in early 2022, pending regulatory approval. Following receipt of such approval, the process of rebranding Western States Bank as First National Bank of Omaha will start. Western States President Gary Crum said in a statement posted on the bank's website that all Western States locations ultimately will operate as First National Bank of Omaha and offer that bank's products and services.
As of Sept. 30, First National Bank of Omaha had assets of $25.68 billion, while Western States Bank had assets of $541.8 million, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data.
