Duke Energy Corp. announced plans Feb. 1 to launch a new subsidiary, eTransEnergy LLC, to help companies and cities transition commercial fleets to electric vehicles.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Duke Energy, eTransEnergy will provide unregulated services to help school districts, transit services and companies with the "planning, financing, acquisition and deployment services" necessary to electrify their vehicle fleets, according to a news release.
Duke Energy said eTransEnergy professionals will be able to draw on many years of experience working with commercial electric fleets, including knowledge of "comprehensive infrastructure planning, smart charging technology, on-site solar energy generation, battery backup options and other aspects of EV fleet management."
"We understand the unique needs of fleet operators and our goal is to simplify the complex process of scaled electric fleet adoption," eTransEnergy Managing Director Greg Fields said in the news release.
