Two congressional committees are planning to reissue subpoenas to Deutsche Bank AG for President Donald Trump's financial records, Bloomberg News reported Jan. 12, citing a lawyer for the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to the House lawyer, Douglas Letter, the subpoenas are expected "very soon."
The House Financial Services Committee and the House Intelligence Committee subpoenaed the German lender and Capital One Financial Corp. in 2019 as part of an investigation into Trump's personal and business records.
The subpoenas expired Jan. 3 with the end of the 116th Congress but will be reissued, Letter said. The House reduced the categories of records it is demanding from Deutsche Bank, and it dropped the subpoena on Capital One altogether, he added.
Deutsche Bank recently decided to stop doing business with President Trump in the wake of violent protests Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol. Deutsche Bank was one of Trump's "favored lenders," Bloomberg reported, stating that the president owes the bank more than $300 million.
