Thomas Gibbons will retire as CEO and board member of Bank of New York Mellon Corp. on Aug. 31 after 36 years with the company.
BNY Mellon's board named Robin Vince president and CEO-elect, effective March 4. Vince was also appointed CEO-elect of Bank of New York Mellon, BNY Mellon's principal unit.
At the effective time of Gibbons' retirement, BNY Mellon's board plans to appoint Vince CEO in addition to his role as president.
Vince currently serves as vice chair of BNY Mellon and CEO of the company's global market infrastructure business.
