Arizona Public Service eyes 1.5 GW of resources; National Grid seeks firm power

New request for proposals

* CenterPoint Energy Indiana South issued a request for proposals for a combination of resources to meet the needs of its 150,000 electric customers in southwestern Indiana. The CenterPoint Energy Inc. subsidiary said proposals are due by 5 p.m. CT on July 5.

* Arizona Public Service Co. is seeking proposals for approximately 1,000 MW to 1,500 MW of resources to meet the needs of its residential and commercial customers through the 2025-2027 time frame. Proposals are due July 8, the Pinnacle West Capital Corp. subsidiary said.

* Public Service Co. of New Mexico issued a request for proposals for up to 700 MW of new capacity resources with guaranteed in-service dates by May 1, 2023, or May 1, 2024. Proposals are due July 20, the PNM Resources Inc. subsidiary said.

Deadline

* Massachusetts Electric Co. and Nantucket Electric Co., which do business as National Grid, are seeking firm, load-following power to meet their Massachusetts default service requirements. For qualified suppliers, indicative pricing was due by 10 a.m. ET on June 1 and final pricing is due by 10 a.m. ET on June 8, according to the National Grid PLC subsidiaries.

Looking forward

* Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. plans to issue requests for proposals for renewable dispatchable energy and firm capacity resources on Oahu and Maui to enable the retirement of oil-fired power generation. The final request for proposals is expected to be issued by Aug. 31, subject to approval from the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission.
