Ameren Missouri, known legally as Union Electric Co., closed the acquisition of the 300-MW Atchison Renewable Energy Center wind farm, located in northwest Missouri, from Invenergy LLC.
The Ameren Corp. subsidiary has invested approximately $1.1 billion for the acquisition of 700 MW of wind power that includes Atchison, also referred to as the Outlaw Wind Project, and the 400-MW High Prairie Wind Farm it acquired from Terra-Gen LLC in December 2020.
The Atchison wind farm is under construction with a 100-MW portion of the project currently in service, Ameren said in a Jan. 14 press release. An additional 50 MW to 75 MW are expected to become operational by the end of March and the remaining 125 MW to 150 MW are expected to be operational later in 2021.
Invenergy will continue to carry out construction of the project.
