Amazon to add more than 2,000 jobs across 5 new Detroit sites

Amazon.com Inc. on Jan. 11 announced its expansion plans in the metro Detroit area with five new sites that will create more than 2,000 permanent full- and part-time jobs with a minimum wage of $15 an hour and benefits.

One of the five sites will be an 823,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Detroit, set to be operational in 2021 and will add 1,200 permanent roles, the company said. This will be Amazon's fourth automated fulfillment center in the state, it added.

The online retailer said the sites also include fulfillment and sorting centers across Hazel Park, Pinnacle Park, Plymouth and Pontiac areas.

Amazon currently operates 10 sites in Detroit, four of which began operations in 2020.
